くず湯
子供の頃に、風邪をひくと祖母がくず湯を作ってくれた。どこにでも自生し雑草扱いだが、昔から根は生薬の原料や食用に、蔓は繊維として織物や籠に、葉は資料に使われてきた。万葉集にも数首「葛を引く」と繊維を作る様が出てくる。Kudzu-yu (hot arrowroot drink)
The kudzu vine grows everywhere like a weed. When I was a child, my grandmother would make starchy kudzu-yu drink for me if I caught a cold. Since ancient times the roots have been used as raw material for herbal medicines and food, the vines for woven textiles, and the leaves for writing paper. In the 8th century Manyoshu manuscripts, it is written about as a plant from which textile fibres can be created.Share on
